Sr. Manager Engineering and Facilities
The Senior Manager, Plant Engineering & Maintenance is responsible for strategic leadership and oversight of the Engineering and Maintenance departments in a high-volume manufacturing environment specializing in instant lottery ticket production. This role ensures optimal reliability, efficiency, and safety of all plant equipment and infrastructure, including large-scale printing presses.
You will develop long-term strategies for equipment lifecycle management, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and manage departmental budgets and staffing to support operational excellence.
Strategic Leadership
- Set vision and direction for Engineering and Maintenance departments aligned with organizational goals.
- Develop and implement long-term maintenance and engineering strategies, including capital improvement plans.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, cost reduction, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and safety standards.
- Lead and mentor managers and supervisors within Maintenance and Engineering teams.
- Establish performance metrics and accountability systems for departmental success.
- Oversee workforce planning, talent development, and succession planning for critical roles.
- Foster a culture of safety, collaboration, and innovation.
- Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance programs are optimized for uptime and cost efficiency.
- Oversee major equipment installations, upgrades, and commissioning projects.
- Collaborate with production leadership to prioritize maintenance activities and minimize downtime.
- Manage vendor relationships for equipment, parts, and service contracts.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, including capital expenditures.
- Monitor and report on maintenance and engineering KPIs, cost performance, and ROI for projects.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.
- Partner with Quality, Safety, and Production teams to ensure operational goals are met.
- Serve as a key liaison for corporate engineering initiatives and technology upgrades.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, required, advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years in maintenance/engineering leadership roles within manufacturing; experience with large-scale printing operations strongly preferred.
- Skills:
- Expertise in mechanical/electrical systems and industrial equipment.
- Strong leadership and strategic planning abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in CMMS systems and maintenance analytics.
- Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma certification, and experience managing capital projects.
