The Shop Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized automotive facility to support efficient daily operations. This role is essential in ensuring technicians can work productively by minimizing hazards, reducing downtime, and maintaining a professional, well-kept environment.
- Maintain cleanliness of the shop floor by removing dirt, debris, and potential hazards
- Remove pallets from designated areas and dispose of them properly (forklift operation required where applicable)
- Empty trash receptacles regularly to ensure a clean and sanitary workspace
- Break down and properly dispose of cardboard and recyclable materials
- Clean and maintain shop equipment and assigned work areas
- Identify and address safety hazards to support a safe working environment
- Maintain organization of materials and common areas to support operational efficiency
- Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety guidelines
- Ability to perform physical labor, including standing, bending, and lifting 50+ pounds
- Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and workplace safety practices
- Strong reliability and work ethic with consistent attendance
- Attention to detail with a focus on maintaining a clean and hazard-free environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Forklift experience or certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- Fast-paced automotive or industrial shop setting
- Exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures
- Requires frequent movement, lifting, and standing for extended periods
