Based in Lakeland, Florida, the ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in high-speed packaging for printed materials, strong leadership skills, and a continuous improvement mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of high-speed packaging solutions for printed products, ensuring protection, presentation, and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Prepress, Quality, Logistics, and Procurement to align packaging with operational and customer requirements.
- Lead packaging trials and validations to ensure compatibility with printing and finishing equipment.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, material optimization, and waste reduction.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and customer specifications.
- Manage relationships with packaging suppliers, including sourcing, negotiation, and performance evaluation.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, KPIs, and staffing plans.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of packaging engineers, designers, and technicians.
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Proficiency in packaging design and analysis tools (e.g., SAP, ArtiosCAD, CAPE, TOPS, SolidWorks).
- 8+ years of experience in packaging development within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the printing or paper products industry.
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials, converting processes, and equipment used in print production.
- Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent project management, communication, and leadership skills.
- Familiarity with sustainability initiatives and recyclable/biodegradable packaging solutions.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and manufacturing execution systems (MES).
