B2B Dock Clerk Client Interview Required On Site
Serves as the operational backbone of Flexport's freight movement, managing the accurate receipt, verification, and dispatch of inbound and outbound shipments at the dock level. Responsible for cross-referencing cargo against Bills of Lading, packing lists, and purchase orders while coordinating closely with carriers, warehouse teams, and account managers to ensure seamless B2B freight flow. Maintains real-time inventory accuracy by logging shipment data into Flexport's systems, flagging discrepancies, and upholding compliance with customs and safety standards. A critical link between physical logistics operations and Flexport's digital supply chain platform.

Dock Clerk — Key Requirements
Role Overview & Operational Standards1. Driver Check-In Logging
Dock clerks are responsible for accurately recording all driver information upon arrival and departure at the facility.- Record driver's full name, CDL number, and carrier/company affiliation at check-in.
- Capture vehicle details including truck number, trailer number, and license plate.
- Log arrival and departure timestamps for every driver interaction.
- Verify driver identity against scheduled appointment or load documentation.
- Flag and escalate any discrepancies in driver credentials to the shift supervisor immediately.
2. Conduit System Log-In
All dock activity must be entered and tracked within Conduit in real time to maintain operational visibility.- Log in to Conduit at the start of every shift using individual credentials — no shared logins.
- Enter driver check-in and check-out events promptly within Conduit upon each occurrence.
- Update load status, dock door assignments, and trailer movements as they happen.
- Ensure all Conduit entries are accurate and complete before end-of-shift sign-off.
- Report any Conduit system issues or access problems to IT support without delay.
3. Dock Safety Protocols
Maintaining a safe dock environment is a non-negotiable priority. Dock clerks must actively uphold and enforce all safety standards.- Wear all required PPE (high-visibility vest, safety footwear) at all times while on the dock floor.
- Enforce pedestrian lane compliance for all personnel — no unauthorized foot traffic in active vehicle zones.
- Confirm trailer wheel chocks and dock locks are engaged before authorizing any loading or unloading activity.
- Conduct a visual safety check of assigned dock doors at the start of each shift and report hazards.
- Immediately report accidents, near-misses, or unsafe conditions to the supervisor and complete an incident log.
4. Proper Paperwork Documentation
Accurate and complete documentation underpins every shipment processed through the dock. Errors or omissions can result in compliance issues, delays, and customer impact.- Collect, review, and retain Bills of Lading (BOL) for all inbound and outbound shipments.
- Verify piece count, weight, and commodity descriptions match system records before signing off on any load.
- Obtain driver signature on all applicable documents and provide copies as required.
- Organize and file completed paperwork by shift date and load number for audit readiness.
- Escalate any damaged freight, seal discrepancies, or missing documentation to the supervisor before release.
