The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all maintenance operations within our client’s mine.
This role ensures the efficient and safe operation of all equipment, machinery, and facilities through proactive maintenance, timely repairs, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will be bilingual in Spanish/English, experience in Maintenance Management in Manufacturing/Mining industry with possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of maintenance best practices, and a commitment to operational excellence and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and develop maintenance technicians and supervisors.
- Manage daily maintenance operations, including scheduling, work order prioritization, and resource allocation.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Take ownership of the Department KPI’s and development of action plans.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance:
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive preventive maintenance (PM) programs for all critical equipment and systems.
- Participate actively in the development of Planning and Scheduling programs.
- Utilize predictive maintenance (PdM) technologies and techniques (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography) to identify potential issues before they cause failures.
- Analyze maintenance data and trends to identify root causes of failures and implement corrective actions.
- Repair & Troubleshooting:
- Oversee the prompt and effective repair of equipment breakdowns and facility issues.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Ensure all repair work is completed safely, efficiently, and to high-quality standards.
- Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget, controlling costs related to parts, labor, and external services.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining or improving maintenance effectiveness.
- Manage inventory of spare parts and critical components to ensure availability and minimize stockouts.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in strict adherence to company safety policies, MSHA regulations, and other relevant standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture within the maintenance team.
- Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry best practices.
- Plan and execute maintenance-related projects, including equipment installations, upgrades, and facility improvements.
- Implement continuous improvement methodologies to enhance maintenance processes and asset reliability.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Production, Engineering, Quality) to support operational goals and initiatives.
- Vendor & Contractor Management:
- Manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers.
- Ensure services are delivered to agreed-upon standards.
- Evaluate performance of external service providers.
Requirements for consideration:
- Associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience required. Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) preferred.
- 4+ years of progressive experience in maintenance management in a leadership role.
- Proven experience managing maintenance in an industrial environment with Heavy Mobile Equipment, Conveyor Belts, Rock crushers or similar
- Demonstrated experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) software.
- Strong background in preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Understanding of PLCs, VFDs, and industrial controls.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Familiarity with safety regulations (e.g., MSHA, LOTO).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CMRP - Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional, CPMM - Certified Professional Maintenance Manager) are a strong plus.
