About the Role
Are you passionate about ensuring employees receive top-notch benefits while keeping organizations in compliance with ever-evolving regulations? We’re looking for a Benefits and Compliance Manager to support our dynamic workforce — both temporary associates and full-time regular staff — across the U.S.
In this highly impactful role, you’ll take ownership of benefits administration, 401(k) management, leave compliance, and pre-employment processes. Key Responsibilities
Benefits Administration

Manage health and welfare plans (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, HSA/FSA, voluntary benefits)

Serve as point of contact for vendors, brokers, and TPAs

Lead open enrollment, employee education, and invoice reconciliation

Maintain benefit plan documents and regulatory notices
401(k) Plan Oversight

Oversee enrollments, loans, distributions, and changes

Coordinate annual compliance: nondiscrimination testing, 5500 filings, ERISA/IRS updates
Leave of Absence (LOA) & FMLA

Administer and track leaves including FMLA, ADA, PDL, CFRA, PFL

Communicate with employees and managers on eligibility and return-to-work steps

Partner with payroll and HRIS to ensure accurate leave tracking
Pre-Employment & I-9 Compliance

Manage background checks, drug testing, and FCRA notices

Administer I-9s and E-Verify; conduct audits and ensure work authorization compliance (TPS, DACA, etc.)

Provide internal training on I-9 best practices
Compliance & Reporting

Complete ACA filings (1095-C/1094-C), EEO-1 reports, and other mandates

Monitor legislation affecting benefits and leaves (multi-state compliance focus)

Support internal/external audits with clean, audit-ready documentation
California Expertise

Administer CA-specific leave programs: PSL, SDI, PDL, PFL, CFRA

Ensure compliance with CA’s wage replacement and job protection laws
What We’re Looking For
-
5+ years’ experience in benefits and compliance (staffing or multi-state environment a plus!)

Strong knowledge of ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and CA employment laws

401(k) administration experience with testing and 5500 filing
-
Familiarity with HRIS and benefits platforms (BambooHR & ADP Workforce Now = bonus points!)

Professional certification preferred (PHR, SHRM-CP)

Excellent attention to detail, confidentiality, and communication skills
