Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sanitation Lead Person to oversee and assist Sanitation Technicians in the effective cleaning and sanitizing of our greenhouse and packaging equipment. This role ensures compliance with GMPs, safety protocols, and sanitation standards while providing leadership, training, and corrective action when needed.


Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and assist with sanitation processes across greenhouse and packaging areas.

  • Conduct daily inspections and chemical verifications to ensure compliance with SSOPs.

  • Measure, weigh, and mix industrial cleaning chemicals safely and accurately.

  • Monitor chemical usage and maintain accurate records of inventory and sanitation supplies.

  • Complete daily and periodic sanitation reports.

  • Operate sanitation equipment, including pressure sprayers, vacuums, ladders, and floor scrubbers.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of Clean In Place (CIP) and Clean Out of Place (COP) procedures.

  • Collaborate with other departments to minimize downtime during sanitation.

  • Train and mentor new hires and internal transfers.

  • Disassemble, sanitize, and reassemble production equipment.

  • Manage employee schedules, approve timecards, and maintain labor efficiency within budget.

  • Perform inspections, swabbing, and allergen program validations.

  • Assist with developing and validating SSOPs and sanitation schedules.

  • Support preparation for third-party audits.

  • Adhere to GMP, HACCP, and company safety standards, reporting any risks to management.

  • Maintain a positive and collaborative work environment.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • One-year certificate from a college/technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum 1 year of sanitation experience in industrial or regulated industries (food, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, consumer packaged goods).

  • At least 1 year of team leadership or supervisory experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and guidelines.

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals.

  • Basic mechanical skills; ability to disassemble/reassemble processing equipment.

  • Knowledge of Confined Space Entry and Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.

  • Comfortable working in varied conditions (heights, heat, high-intensity lighting).


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, and balance up to 75 lbs. (up to 150 lbs. with assistance).

  • Ability to meet physical demands such as climbing, bending, standing, walking, and performing repetitive tasks.

  • Willingness to work with industrial cleaning chemicals and follow all chemical safety training.
