About the Role:
Pay Rate:
$23.50/hour
Available Shift Times:
- Monday-Friday, 6:30am – 3:00pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Review delivery routes to ensure timely and efficient deliveries
- Pick up loads, organize goods in the truck, and securely fasten cargo for transport
- Ensure the Moffet is properly and securely attached to the tractor unit before departure
- Transport pallet goods and cargo safely from the point of origin to the designated destination
- Contact customers before delivery to announce arrival and delivery instructions
- Obtain client signatures and pictures when applicable to confirm and complete deliveries
- Coordinate with customers at delivery sites to ensure their safety and the secure handling of material
- Promptly report any refused deliveries or damaged materials to the Operations team
- Communicate with dispatch as needed to coordinate deliveries and address any issues
- Flexibility to adapt to changes, including adjusting routes or accommodating same-day pick-ups and deliveries as needed
- Ensure the vehicle is serviced regularly according to maintenance schedule
- Ensure the Moffet is serviced regularly and report any issues promptly to the Manager
- Ensure that all necessary licenses and permits are up to date and are readily available in the vehicle permit book
- Refuel the vehicle daily
- Maintain the truck’s appearance
- Complete and maintain driver logs and other required documentation in compliance with company and regulatory standards
- Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, identifying, reporting and documenting any safety defects
- Complete Avalon Flooring’s forklift and Moffett certification programs
- Ability to work 40 hours per week/5 days - Monday-Friday, 6:30am-3:00pm (please note the workday could be extended beyond this time due to the unpredictability of deliveries)
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Experience operating warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, hand trucks and pallet jacks required
- Customer Service experience required
- Possess a valid Class B commercial driver’s license
- 6+ months of driving a large truck a plus, City driving experience a plus
- Clean driving record with no moving violations
- Ability to drive manual transmission
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs consistently
- Able to read and comprehend safety instructions and communicate effectively in English to support workplace safety and efficiency
- Be able to obtain and keep a valid Department of Transportation Medical Card with no restrictions (cost to be paid by Avalon)
- Flexibility and patience. While truck routes, stops, and deliveries are planned, many unforeseen circumstances and variables come into play on a daily basis. Avalon truck drivers must be able to adapt and deal with changes daily. Including, but not limited to, loading material into a customer’s garage, assisting customers with the correct deliveries, and verifying that correct material is being delivered.
